Two leadership opportunities for students set for January

CATEGORIES: November 2013, Voices

Two leadership opportunities for Iowa State students – the fourth annual Women’s Leadership Retreat and Campaign College – will be offered in January 2014.

The Women’s Leadership Retreat will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, in the north atrium of Hach Hall. This retreat is free and open to ISU students.

Students may register online by visiting the Student Activities Center’s website. Lunch and snacks will be provided. As limited seating is available, early registration is encouraged. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.

At the retreat, guest speakers will give presentations on networking with other students and leaders from ISU and the Ames community, conflict resolution, negotiations, supervising and the current working situation for women today.

The Women’s Leadership Retreat is sponsored by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, the Student Activities Center and the Margaret Sloss Women’s Center.

Campaign College will meet from 1 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union. Check-in will begin at 12:30 p.m

This interactive, half-day training session will teach students how to get elected or appointed to ISU’s Government of the Student Body (GSB) and to other campus leadership positions. It is designed to recruit and train college women to get involved in campus leadership, but is open to all ISU students.

Interested students can sign up for Campaign College on the Catt Center’s website. The workshop is free. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.

During the workshop, students will discover leadership experiences that will shape their future, develop key leadership skills and practices, and build their campus networks.

Campaign College is sponsored by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics.
